We are pleased to announce that our Tectonics and Source Rock Potential of the Southern Caribbean Margin Regional Report will be released in July. If you are exploring for hydrocarbons in Colombia and Venezuela’s northern onshore basins or in the Caribbean waters of Venezuela, Colombia and Panama, then this in-depth Regional Report will give you the tools to better understand the basis for, and impacts of, the differing tectonic models of the Caribbean.
This new and exciting Regional Report examines and tests the radically different plate models that have been proposed for the Caribbean in order to assess which model best fits observations in northern Colombia and Venezuela. These observations include a new structural framework (interpreted from Getech’s extensive gravity and magnetic databases) and redefined crustal types and depth-to-basement. The report also examines how insights from our structural mapping and plate modelling impact models for the deposition, preservation and maturation of Late Cretaceous and Cenozoic source rocks.
This report joins our growing catalogue of 2015 Regional Reports, which includes the Tectonic Evolution of Mexico Regional Report that was released in March.
