Getech, a provider of data, knowledge and software to the energy industry, is pleased to report that, following a thorough external recruitment process, Michael Covington will join the Board of Getech as Non-Executive Director and Chairman Designate of the Audit Committee with immediate effect.
To facilitate a handover period, Alison Fielding, a current Non-Executive Director and chair of the Audit Committee will complete the 2020 audit and will retire from the Getech Board on 30 June 2021, at which time Michael shall assume the Audit Chair position.
Michael is an experienced renewable energy and cleantech investment director and consultant and has a breadth of experience that is directly relevant to the future strategy of the Company, which is to use Getech’s earth science and geospatial skills to accelerate the path to global net-zero.
The appointment of Michael continues the board transition process aimed at aligning the Non-Executive expertise with the Company’s strategy to apply its core earth science and geospatial expertise to a wider array of industries engaged in the energy transition and assisting them to discover and de-risk the development of assets that include mining of rare earth and battery metals, geothermal, CCUS (blue hydrogen) and green hydrogen hubs.
Richard Bennett, Chairman of Getech commented:
“I am very pleased to welcome Michael as Independent Non-Executive Director. Getech will greatly benefit from his wealth of experience gained across his extensive career in the renewable energy and finance industry particularly in commercial and investment agreements, funding, audit and M&A.
Following the recent successful equity fundraising, Getech’s strategy continues to target ambitious sustainable growth and the Company is ensuring that it has the necessary skills to support our current customers and add value to new ones.
By bringing Michael’s extensive cleantech and renewable energy expertise into the fold our offering is strengthened further.
I would also like to express both my personal and Getech’s gratitude to Alison Fielding for her support and dedication to the Company’s development over the previous 10 years. Alison’s expertise and support have been crucial over the period of her involvement in the Company”.
