During this year’s conference, themed Africa is Back, Smarter, Better and Stronger, Mr Timothy Kabba, Director General of the Sierra Leone Petroleum Directorate, will be in London to continue discussions with parties engaged with the country’s Fourth Offshore Licensing Round.
Following industry consultation, the Government of Sierra Leone has enacted an innovative and flexible licensing framework to assist investors in their evaluation of the significant potential of the Sierra Leone margin. This framework is a first for the upstream industry and has received plaudits from a wide spectrum of Supermajor and Independent Exploration and Production Companies.
With discussions continuing with a range of interested parties in both the Direct and Open Tender tracks of the Fourth License Round, the Director General has decided to extend the opportunity to meet with him and his team, who will be attending the Africa E&P Conference.
Mr Timothy Kabba, Director General of the Sierra Leone Petroleum Directorate commented: “The people of Sierra Leone are blessed with proven hydrocarbon systems that lie between major discoveries in Senegal/Mauritania and Ghana, and which are conjugate to systems hosting multi-billion-barrel fields in Guyana. With Sierra Leone’s offshore waters now fully open to Licensing, investors can explore in shallow to ultradeep waters, with the flexibility to define both their License Areas and programs of work. At the Africa E&P Conference I look forward to discussing with investors the Republic of Sierra Leone’s rich prospectivity, and the Government’s differentiated License Round structure.”
