Getech, providers of natural resources exploration data, software and expertise, has recently announced its membership of The Open Group’s Open Subsurface Data Universe (OSDU) Forum.
Following a meeting of leading oil and gas companies in early 2018, the OSDU was created with the goal of enabling new cloud-native data-driven applications which will have seamless access to the full range of subsurface and wells data.
The aim is to allow oil and gas companies to reduce the resource and cost burden of independently designing and validating a subsurface data platform.
Chief Operating Officer, Chris Jepps expanded on why Getech had taken the decision to join the OSDU; “As a data, software and service provider in the energy space, it is essential that we keep abreast of advances in data integration initiatives across our sector.”
He continued; “As more and more data moves to the cloud, leveraging online data storage and microservices-based architectures is of critical importance for driving greater efficiencies and eliminating data and application silos. Joining the OSDU enables us to ensure our products and services keep up with these changes, so that we can continue to serve our customer-base and help them to better locate and manage natural resources.”
