GETECH EMAG2 Add-ons for World Wind

GETECH has created two separate add-ons for use with NASA's open source World Wind software. The first add-on is a "standard" package with the EMAG2 data served up as a series of tiled images.

The second add-on package also includes a new surface based on the EMAG2 field values. If this add-on is installed this will effectively create a "new world" in World Wind who's 'topographic' surface is made up of magnetic anomaly values.

About EMAG2

GETECH has generated a World Wind add-on to display the World Digital Magnetic Anomaly Map (WDMAM). This add-on has been freely available to download from the GETECH website since the release of the WDMAM first edition in 2007. Now, a new and improved magnetic compilation for the world has been released by NOAA.

The EMAG2 data set is a 2-arc-minute grid of total magnetic intensity for the entire globe. The new grid fills in many previous gaps over the worlds oceans, thanks to newly available ship track data and the use of novel interpolation methods which enhance the magnetic stripes over oceanic crust.

About World Wind

World Wind is open source Windows software that lets you zoom from satellite altitude into any place on Earth. Leveraging Landsat satellite imagery and Shuttle Radar Topography Mission data, World Wind lets you experience Earth terrain in visually rich 3D, just as if you were really there.
